Anybus by HMS Networks AB7078-B is a gateway designed for serial communications within the Serial Communicators sub-range. This part functions as a serial communicator/gateway with configurable RS-232/422/485 protocols for produce/consume or query/response ASCII operations. It supports up to 31 stations when using RS485/422 and offers a baud rate range of 1.2-57.6kbit/s. The device is capable of executing a variety of Modbus commands and DF1 services, including reading and writing coils, registers, file records, and more, alongside diagnostics and data integrity checks. It features reverse voltage protection, short circuit protection, and galvanic isolation on the sub-network to enhance its operational safety. The AB7078-B boasts a mean time to failure (MTTF) greater than 550,000 hours, according to Telcordia Issue 2 / Method 1 Case 3 at 30°C, and can be installed at altitudes up to 2000m. It is designed to withstand industrial environmental conditions, with immunity to electrostatic discharge, electromagnetic RF fields, fast transients, surge protection, and RF conducted interference, while maintaining emissions within specified limits. The gateway includes a Serial + PROFINET-IRT Ethernet dual-port with 6 LED indicators for various statuses, and it requires a supply voltage of 21.6-26.4Vdc (24Vdc nominal). Its dimensions are H120mm x W27mm x D75mm, housed in a plastic (ABS / PC) casing. Connection interfaces include 2 x RJ45 connectors for PROFINET IRT, 1 x 9-pin D-sub female connector for serial communications, 1 x 2-poles plug-in connector for power, and 1 x RJ11 PC connector. It offers an IP20 NEMA 1 degree of protection and supports DIN rail mounting. The AB7078-B operates within an ambient air temperature range of 0 to +55 °C, with a current consumption of 300mA (max) and 100mA (typical), and can be stored in temperatures ranging from -40 to +85 °C. Humidity tolerance is 0-95% RH, non-condensing.
